Ages 12 to 18 months:  

 

Whole milk, 2-3 servings of dairy per day

Other dairy (soft pasteurized cheese, full-fat yogurt, cottage cheese)  

Iron-fortified cereals, 4-6 servings of cereals & all grains  

Other gains (bread, pasta, rice)

All vegetables and fruits, cut up or sliced; cooked, canned, or fresh; ¼ - ½ cup per day

Protein, same as earlier months; can add peanut butter

Combination foods (macaroni and cheese, pizza, casseroles, stews).  Introduce one food at a time, allowing at least 3 days before introducing the next food

Use caution with choking hazards (see list)

Toddler should show some of these signs:

Puts everything in mouth

Has more teeth

Starts using a spoon

Picks up objects with thumb and forefinger

Transfers objects from one hand to another

Age 18 to 24 months:
